Biography

Dr Jacqui England is a forest ecologist with a broad interest in carbon dynamics in vegetation and soil and the influence of climate and management factors on these processes. She has published on improving estimation of carbon sequestration in forest systems, including reforestation of agricultural land by mixed-species environmental plantings. This work has directly contributed to improving the national carbon accounting tool and the development of land-based greenhouse gas mitigation methodologies. Jacqui has an ongoing interest in the multiple benefits that reforestation can provide. Recent work has focused on the multiple benefits of woody vegetation on farms, including understanding the production benefits and how woody vegetation can support natural capital. She has lead or contributed to several scientific and technical reviews for State and Federal governments, and works with collaborators from universities, and government and non-government organisations. International engagement has included co-authoring the Good Practice Guidance to report on United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Indicator 15.3.1 (proportion of land degraded over total land area), including leading the development and report delivery of methods to assess the carbon stocks above- and below-ground sub-indicator.
