Biography
Candice grew up on Gubbi Gubbi / Kubbi Kubbi land, in Caloundra. She moved to Brisbane to study at UQ and graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Molecular Biology. She then moved to Mondulkiri, Cambodia to participate in the development of new seed storage technologies for this region. After a dengue fever infection, Candice returned to Australia and began a PhD in Plant Molecular Biology. During her PhD Candice investigated molecular networks that enable legumes to respond to abiotic stresses. Candice now works at the CSIRO BioFoundry where she supports internal and external clients to develop new biotechnology using automation and high-throughput synthetic biology approaches.
