Biography

His research interests focus on carbon dioxide removal and its role in reaching net zero and transitioning to a net-negative world. Dr Lenton is engaged in national and international Carbon Dioxide Removal research efforts, leading Australia's engagement in Mission Innovation - Carbon Dioxide Removal. He is also lead author of the 7th IPCC Assessment Report.

Andrew has over 20 years of experience modelling the global carbon cycle and climate. He focuses on understanding past, present, and future changes in the Earth's system and exploring solutions beyond mitigation to address climate change.

Dr Andrew Lenton was previously Founding Director of CSIRO's CarbonLock, Australia’s most extensive carbon removal program. This program focuses on developing, integrating, scaling, and deploying novel carbon dioxide removal technologies.
