Biography

Dr Andrew Lenton is the Director of CSIRO's CarbonLock, Australia’s most extensive carbon removal program. This program focuses on developing, integrating, scaling, and deploying novel carbon dioxide removal technologies.

His research interests focus on carbon dioxide removal and its role in reaching net zero and transitioning to a net-negative world. Dr Lenton is engaged in national and international Carbon Dioxide Removal research efforts, leading Australia's engagement in Mission Innovation -Carbon Dioxide Removal and co-leading the Carbon Dioxide Removal Model Intercomparison Project (CDRMIP). He continues to serve in an advisory capacity to the Australian Government and led the recent assessment of Australia’s Sequestration Potential.

Andrew has over 20 years of experience modelling the global carbon cycle and climate. He focuses on understanding past, present, and future changes in the earth's system and exploring solutions beyond mitigation to address climate change.
