Biography

Andrew Lenton is the Director of the CSIRO's Permanent Carbon Locking Future Science Platform (CarbonLock). He has more than 20 years of experience in modelling the global carbon cycle and climate, focusing on understanding past, present and future changes in the earth system and exploring solutions beyond mitigation to address climate change. He has been involved in negative emissions and geoengineering research for over a decade. Andrew has held a number of positions, from Research Director to leading CSIRO's Earth System Science Portfolio. Amongst other roles, Andrew currently leads the Carbon Dioxide Removal Model Intercomparison Project (CDRMIP) and is a principal investigator in several national and international projects and serves on several national and international advisory groups. He has more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and reports, including the 5th and 6th IPCC Assessment Reports.
