Biography
Dr Marta Monjardino is an agrifood systems economist at CSIRO Agriculture and Food. Her cross-cutting skills in integrating production simulation, economic performance, and farmer attitudes have been used to generate timely and accurate evidence to support informed farm decisions, research priorities, and government policy in risky contexts. Examples include yield gap analysis, nitrogen fertilisation, integrated weed management, irrigation infrastructure, livestock grazing systems, and conservation agriculture. Impactful grower-engaged work extends to case-study applications in south and southeast Asia, southern Africa and the Pacific via ACIAR/DFAT-funded projects, as well as in central Mexico through a CIMMYT collaboration.
