Biography
Katharina Nargar is a molecular systematist and evolutionary biologist with a research focus on tropical plant biodiversity. Katharina's research interests lie in understanding the diversification of species-rich tropical plant groups, and the underlying factors that shaped today’s diversity.
Katharina's expertise lies in using genomic approaches to elucidate evolutionary relationships, trait and range evolution of hyperdiverse plant lineages and conservation genomic approaches to assess taxonomic delimitation and genomic diversity in rare and threatened Australian plants to inform their conservation management.
Since 2010 Katharina worked at the Australian Tropical Herbarium in Cairns where she established the orchid research program and is now leading the Tropical Biodiversity and Evolution Team.
