Biography

I am a wildlife ecologist who seeks to understand how species function in nature and then uses this information to inform management, mitigation and offsetting outcomes. I have 20 years experience post-PhD of carrying out on-ground environmental management projects focussing on recovering threatened species and assessing potential impacts to and managing species and ecosystems in the face of environmental disturbance. Recently, I have come to understand that all natural resource management has a strong human component and I now view these issues within a social-ecological systems framework. I have been employed in the private sector, government departments and at several universities during my career to date. This work has been undertaken in tropical (Sri Lanka, Timor Leste, northern Australia) and arid ecosystems.
