Biography
Dr. Parui is an Indian-born field-based geoscientist with a structural geology and tectonics background. He joined CSIRO in March 2023 as a CSIRO Early Research Career (CERC) Fellow within the Multidimensional Geoscience Group in Mineral Resources. His current research focuses on deciphering the structural controls in mineral systems hosted in Proterozoic sedimentary basins.
Dr. Parui completed his Ph.D. in September 2022 from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Kolkata. Chirantan’s past research experience involved decoding the kinematic and mechanical evolution of the eastern Himalayan orogenic belt and unraveling the impact of climate change on Himalayan tectonic deformation integrating high-resolution field mapping, regional balanced cross-section, forward modeling of deformation, microstructural and strain analysis, thermochronology, geophysical data.
