Biography
Scott Philip is a CSIRO Project Officer and coordinator of the Aboriginal Summer School for Excellence in Technology (ASSETS) which is run by CSIRO and funded by the BHP Billiton Foundation.
He works closely with students, teachers, community members and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) professionals to deliver an inspiring and challenging experience for Indigenous students. ASSETS is a nine day residential summer school and a two year Leadership and Support program following students through Years 11 and 12. This part of the program sets students up with work placements in STEM fields, as well as other opportunities.
Scott has delivered CSIRO’s Education and Outreach programs since 2011. Prior to that, he worked for Questacon Outreach to bring science and technology to young Australians across the country. Scott was awarded a Graduate Diploma in Science Communications from the Australian National University and he has a Bachelor of Science (Communication) in Marine Science from the University of New South Wales. Scott has volunteered with the National Aboriginal Sporting Chance Academy and is Captain of the Australian Men’s National Underwater Rugby team. Scott is currently studying a Masters of Indigenous Education.
