Biography
Freya has a background and interest in wildlife ecology and environmental management and is a Research Technician working on projects within two fields: invasive species management and wildlife ecology/management.
While working at CSIRO Freya has worked on a diverse range of Research Projects centred around animal research, rearing, husbandry, handling and fieldwork. She has worked with insects, rodents and waterbirds.
Freya is currently working on two Research Projects across different Business Units: The Mouse Project (Health & Biosecurity) and The Waterbird Project (Land & Water). She has been with the Mouse Project for two years; this Grains & Research Development Corporation (GRDC) funded project is aimed at monitoring house mouse activity in cropping areas and better understanding mouse ecology to inform management recommendations. Freya has been working on The Waterbird Project for five years; the current aim of the Commonwealth Environmental Water Office (CEWO) funded project is to increase understanding of the water requirements of various waterbird species within the Murray-Darling Basin, through satellite tracking of movements and habitat use.
