Mr Joel Slinger

Joel is an Experimental Scientist with a PhD in fish disease and microbial interactions. He has extensive experience in aquatic animal health, biology, and recirculating aquaculture systems. His research focuses on pathology of salmonid diseases, fish husbandry and system design, integrated aquaculture techniques, and emerging aquaculture species development. Joel has a background in both freshwater and marine ecology, being familiar with current fish and macro-invertebrate sampling (AusRivAS accredited), ecosystem assessment techniques and water quality monitoring. Recently Joel has been involved in research investigating novel treatment options for amoebic gill disease in Atlantic salmon, as well as investigating aspects of nutrition and physiology of Atlantic salmon.
