Biography
Mitchell Scovell is a Research Scientist in the Sustainability Pathways Program, CSIRO Environment. With a background in psychology, his research focuses on applying quantitative methods to understand how people think and behave in response to environmental change. His PhD research explored the psychology behind cyclone mitigation behaviour in North Queensland. Since joining CSIRO, his work has concentrated on explaining public attitudes toward energy technologies and infrastructure, like hydrogen, large-scale renewables and coal seam gas. A key focus of his current research is developing and applying statistical models to better understand the psychosocial drivers behind community responses to new and existing energy industries.
