Biography
Ranya Simons is a Principal Research Scientist and currently leads the Hybrid Materials Structures group at CSIRO. She has significant experience in scientific research focusing on the creation and translation of innovative technologies for the manufacturing and chemical industry.
Dr Simons trained as a polymer chemist having completed a PhD at Melbourne University investigating polymer-clay nanocomposites, and a Bachelor of Engineering (honours) in Industrial Chemistry at the University of New South Wales.
Dr Simons has experience collaborating with global manufacturing businesses to provide technical solutions and products that directly benefit cost, health and safety, as well as flow and processing times. She has a particular interest in polymer coatings and composites, sustainable materials by design, polymer recycling, multifunctional interfaces, and surface modification.
