Biography

I am an Agricultural Scientist with experience in government and research sectors. My current research focus is on soil data management, modelling and delivery as well as agricultural data information systems and modelling. I have broad experience in catchment water quality modelling, natural resource management and assessment, landscape modelling, soil salinity, spatial data analysis and information management.

I am currently the technical lead of the TERN Landscapes Digital Soil Modelling project. We are producing fine scale national soil attribute surfaces from existing soil data using Machine Learning modelling methodologies. The Soil and Landscape Grid of Australia is the home for these products

I am also working on a range of agricultural land suitability assessments in Northern Australia, developing and using Digital Soil Assessment methodologies to generate broad-scale estimates of areas of land suitable for development. The current catchment we are working in is the Roper River Catchment in the NT.

I am also involved in national scale soil moisture monitoring work and exploring how we can use farm data to help generate insights for improving farm management.

I am very interested in making soils information easily accessible, useful and used as widely as possible to produce better outcomes for agriculture and the environment.
