Biography
Dr Elycia Wallis leads the Engagement Team for the Atlas of Living Australia, as well as working closely with the museums and herbarium collections community. The Engagement Team are responsible for managing priority ALA sector engagement activities, including projects that have a significant external engagement component. The team leads partnerships with the collections community (museums, herbaria and libraries) and international biodiversity data infrastructures and initiatives, such as the Biodiversity Heritage Library and Taxonomic Data Working Group (TDWG). The team also supports a range of national activities focused on citizen science, biosecurity, and works respectfully and collaboratively with Indigenous communities to deliver the ALA’s Indigenous Ecological Knowledge program. Prior to joining the ALA in 2018, Dr Wallis worked for over twenty years with Museums Victoria in Melbourne, Australia. During her time at the museum, Dr Wallis worked in the Crustacea collection, managed the collection management software system, worked with the Library and Public Information teams, and was Manager of Online Collections – publishing websites, apps and in gallery multimedia experiences.
