Biography

Viveka Weiley is Convenor of the CSIRO Concept Lab, a place to nurture and amplify creative intelligence, bringing together brilliant minds to imagine and build the future of scientific discovery.

Previously he led Product Design & Engineering for Reinventing Science, a strategic program to revolutionise science through emerging technologies like collaborative intelligence, spatio-temporal data exploration and multimodal AI.

At CSIRO Viveka has worked on projects in climate and hazard risk, assistive and augmenting technologies, AI/machine learning, virtual, augmented and mixed reality (VR/AR/MR/XR) for collaboration and remote guidance in space exploration, site inspection and epidemic control, interactive geovisualisation and spatial and multi-criteria decision support for wicked problems.

Viveka has 25 years of experience in design, technology and creativity research and 10 years in executive leadership taking innovative products and services from invention through to scale. He was a founding member of the Australian Government’s Consumer Data Right Advisory Committee and serves on Advisory Boards to the UTS School of Software and the UTS School of Design.

Other Interests

Sashimono (woodworking), sharp tools, socio-ecological modeling, sketching, reading, cycling, sailing, experimental music and conceptual art.
