Biography

Viveka Weiley is Engineering & Design Leader for Reinventing Science, a strategic program to revolutionise science through digital technologies over the next 20 to 30 years.

Previously he led the Design Thinking practice at CSIRO’s Data61, helping organisations face the future by creating space for collaborative creativity. In this role he worked on projects in climate and hazard risk, assistive and augmenting technologies, machine learning, virtual, augmented and mixed reality (VR/AR/MR/XR) for collaboration and remote guidance in space exploration, site inspection and epidemic control, interactive geovisualisation and spatial and multi-criteria decision support for wicked problems.

Viveka has 25 years of experience in design, technology and creativity research and 10 years in executive leadership taking innovative products and services from invention through to scale. He was a founding member of the Australian Government’s Consumer Data Right Advisory Committee and serves on Advisory Boards to the UTS School of Software and the UTS School of Design.
