Biography
Dr David Ahmedt Aristizabal is a Senior Research Scientist and leader of the Efficient Computer Vision Team within the Imaging and Computer Vision Group at Data61 CSIRO. He holds a PhD in Computer Vision from QUT and brings over a decade of international experience applying artificial intelligence to real world challenges. His work is grounded in a strong engineering foundation, with degrees in Mechatronics and Automation.
David’s global career includes roles in Colombia, Peru, Brazil, the United States, Germany and Australia, where he has led large scale engineering projects and high impact research and development initiatives. At CSIRO, he develops advanced machine learning and computer vision systems that support critical sectors such as agriculture, environmental monitoring, and healthcare. His team focuses on building deployable and scalable solutions that move beyond academic project, delivering inspection and surveillance tools, scene understanding platforms, and human behaviour analysis systems that make a difference in real settings.
David is committed to building high performing multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with partners who are ready to turn AI innovation into meaningful outcomes. He also actively supervises research students, supporting the next generation of scientists.
