Biography

I’m a mechatronic engineer with a Master’s in Automation and Manufacturing Systems and a PhD in Computer Vision. Before moving into research, I spent almost a decade in manufacturing across maintenance, production, and engineering project management, leading engineering delivery and operational improvement initiatives. This experience gave me a practical understanding of industrial constraints, risk and safety thinking, and continuous improvement, which I apply directly when designing AI systems that can be trusted and adopted in the field.

Since 2019 I’ve worked at CSIRO Data61 as a Research Scientist and Team Leader, focusing on applied computer vision and data analytics for real operational settings. My team builds deployable, scalable solutions that move beyond academic prototypes, including inspection and surveillance tools, scene understanding workflows, and human behaviour analysis approaches used in practical environments. I draw on my background in data analytics, continuous improvement and project engineering to translate research into practice, lead multidisciplinary teams, and design robust vision and machine learning pipelines. I’m particularly interested in healthcare, industrial and environmental applications, and I’m committed to collaborating with partners who are ready to turn AI innovation into meaningful outcomes. I also supervise research students, supporting the next generation of scientists.
