Biography

Dr. Cheney Chen is a physicist and biosensor scientist with diverse experiences and expertise in multidisciplinary emerging research. After getting his PhD in Physics and Applied Physics in 2018 from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, he worked as a Research Fellow in the School of Materials Science and Engineering. His research endeavours have primarily centred around the two-dimensional (2D) materials-based research area, including the synthesis and exploring the optical and electrical properties of 2D materials. He joined CSIRO in 2020 as a CERC postdoc and shifted his focus to novel concepts of electrochemical biosensing, exploring new opportunities for early disease diagnosis and development of point-of-care devices. He is now an Impossible Without You (IWY) Research Scientist at CSIRO Manufacturing and working on Quantum Technologies FSP. As a member of CSIRO’s Biochemical Sensing Team, he contributes to develop novel Quantum Tunnelling Biosensors, propelling CSIRO's capability in Quantum Biosensing.

Other Interests
