Biography

Sofia is a CERC fellow in the Resource Sector Biotechnology Team in Environment Business Unit. She joined CSIRO in October 2022. Her work at CSIRO is focused on development of technoeconomic framework for bioplastic production from microalgae. Prior to CSIRO she worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Murdoch University on a Waste to Profit project to assess the economic and environmental potential of integrating microalgae cultivation with abattoir wastewater treatment. Her PhD work focused on process design, technoeconomic and life cycle assessment of algal hydrocarbon production via repetitive extraction.
