Biography

Nick has a background in quantitative genetics models and data science methods to understand and predict crop adaptation in applied breeding programmes. His current CERC Fellowship project will use a large dataset of multi-environment wheat yield trials as part of the CAIGE project as well as CIMMYT breeding programme trails to dissect genotype by environment interactions and mechanisms of crop adaptation across regions and changing climates.

Previously, he completed a PhD in the UK at NIAB and the University of Cambridge, working collaboratively with the DSV UK wheat breeding programme to develop and apply QTL mapping and genomic selection tools for bread wheat quality. Nick also maintains an interest in valuing novel crop genetic resources in low-input and sustainable farming systems.
