Biography
Geoff is a member of the Data61 Ecological and Environmental Risk Assessment team (example risk projects listed here). Since joining the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) in 2009, Geoff has worked in the areas of risk assessment and decision making under uncertainty. Geoff’s research background is in ecological modelling with an emphasis on how model structure uncertainty impact the risk assessment of ecological populations. Important components of this work include quantifying uncertainty through probability and accounting for multiple sources of uncertainty that arise from observation methods and the process dynamics of partially observed systems. Geoff’s experience in probabilistic risk analysis includes: hazard prioritisation, structured expert elicitation, development of robust monitoring designs and associated analytic methods.
