Biography
Kimal Hiralall is the Director of Business Development for CSIRO’s Space & Astronomy (S&A) and National Collections & Marine Infrastructure (NCMI*) business units. In his role, he enables the business units and CSIRO to achieve sustainable revenue targets through implementation of strategy, opportunity development and management, pipeline build, and managing customer relationships.
Kimal is a qualified Aeronautical Engineer with more than 18 years of leadership and technical experience. He also holds a diploma in program management and is an International Space University Alumni. Furthermore, he is a co-chair in the International Space Exploration Coordination Group.
Prior to joining CSIRO in 2019, Kimal worked in the Defence Sector supporting capability development and technology transfer, within the aerospace domain.
[S&A business unit delivers research and expertise to further understanding of the Universe, including observing Earth from space and the development of innovative new space technologies. It also manages and operates world-class national facilities for radio astronomy, spacecraft communications and tracking, and collecting satellite-derived data about Earth, for customers from across Australia and the world.
*NCMI BU manages collections of plants and animals of Australian and international significance, hosts and contributes to the Atlas of Living Australia, manages the Environomics Future Science Platform and hosts the Marine National Facility on behalf of Australia.]
