Biography
Sahan is an early career researcher in the Long-Term Ecosystem Dynamics Team. He has an underlying passion in the experimental aspects of molecular biology and developing practical applications for the monitoring of marine ecosystems and assessing the impacts of climate change. He first joined CSIRO as a research technician in the Australian National Fish Collection (ANFC) to understand the taxonomic diversity and population structures of Australia’s threatened and endangered fishes and sharks, and how this information can be used for biodiversity assessments, management, and conservation. Sahan previously completed a PhD at the University of Tasmania in the field of astrobiology, studing polar extremophilic microbes and the sea ice environment to explore the potential for life to exist elsewhere in our Solar System and beyond.
