Biography

Erica Kneipp has more than three decades of executive public policy leadership with state and Commonwealth governments and in national research institutes focused on health and medicine.

She has led the establishment of first time public-private health service partnerships, introduced new health system funding models and systems architecture and transformed funding for science and commercialisation in Australia. This included leading the establishment of the Australian Government’s $20 billion endowment Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF), Biomedical Translation Fund (BTF, $500m for-profit matched capital private venture fund) and national clinical trial reform that drove the now funded National One Stop Shop. She has extensive experience managing and delivering health services and programs, including at the statewide level, in rural and remote communities and aged care.

Since 2020, she has led large teams of researchers to rebuild post-COVID, establish sustainable science programs, attract revenue and translate for impact. Erica currently manages the Human Health portfolio for CSIRO, Australia’s national science agency, with responsibility for science focus on dangerous zoonic pathogens, vector bourn-disease, modelling disease transmission and preparedness including vaccine development.

She is a an accomplished strategic thinker with sophisticated stakeholder management skills and retained influential networks in the public and private sector. Erica is long stating Non-Executive Director with Brandon BioCatalyst and AusBiotech and recently joined BioPlatforms Australia.
