Biography

I am a behavioural ecologist studying the consequence of animal interactions in terms of disease transmission, mating, and species co-occurrence. I am also interested in the evolution of animal communications, including acoustic and visual signals.

Having the interests in disease transmission and invasive species, I am now working at CSIRO to study the population control and disease infection in rodents. Before joining the Health & Biosecurity at CSIRO, I worked as a postdoc in the animal communication lab at Ewha Womans University in 2023. I completed my PhD with a focus on behavioural ecology at Macquarie University in 2022, where I integrated fieldwork and laboratory experiments to determine whether bacteria and parasite infections are related to physiological performance in lizards. Prior to my PhD, I received the Master’s degree in National Taiwan Normal University, where I studied the variation in acoustic signal of amphibians. I worked as a research assistant in the same lab to investigate sexual selection signals in lizards and prevalence of salamander chytrid fungus. During this period, I also wrote a check list of invasive herpetofauna in Taiwan, which proved to be an excellent resource for policy-making process of invasive species control.

Other Interests

I am passionate about diving and spearfishing. As an active member of St George Spearfishing & Freediving Club, I dive all over the south coast of Sydney. I am always ready to jump into herping and diving whenever I have spare time.
