Biography
Dr Xiaoqing Li started her research career at China Agriculture University (CAU, China) with a B.S. degree in Resources and Environment Sciences. She worked on the effects of local phosphorous supply and auxin on the formation of cluster root in white lupin. Then she joined a master programme to study chalcone synthase genes cloning and expression regulation in cluster roots of white lupin. During 2012–2016, Xiaoqing pursued her PhD in Plant Physiology about plant root development and hormone signalling during soil drying in Lancaster University (UK). She was a postdoctoral fellow in CSIRO Agriculture and Food between 2016 to 2020. The postdoc project was about developing energy efficient roots in wheat. Xiaoqing joined the Cotton Fibre Quality team in CSIRO Agriculture and Food to work on the Novel Fibre project since late July 2020. From 2022, Xiaoqing starts to work on the Cotton Breeding Australia (CBA) Core Biotechnology IV project as a key researcher to support the cotton breeding in CSIRO. Since 2023, Xiaoqing co-leads the CBA Core Biotechnology V project to continue support the cotton breeding work in CSIRO.
