Biography

Branwen has a PhD in medicine from UNSW (Garvan Institute of Medical Research) and is well-known as a science strategy and corporate affairs consultant.

She has worked for a variety of not-for-profit and industry organisations in the UK and Australia – including the Coalition for Medical Progress, an umbrella organisation that was absorbed into Understanding Animal Research UK, and AstraZeneca (AZ) Australia NZ. At AZ, she led and managed a variety of business projects that encompassed company restructuring, new sales initiatives, and the design and development of a company news app.

Branwen's consulting clients include: Amgen, L.E.K. Consulting, CSIRO, The Royal Flying Doctors, The George Institute, Clinical Trials Australia, University of Technology Sydney, and Innovation Science Australia amongst others. Her STEMM network, biomedical knowledge and strong interest in research translation has seen her employed as a communications professional and a journalist by Springer Nature and the ABC. She is a past Board member of Science Technology Australia and a 2022 recipient of a WILD (Women in Leadership Development) scholarship.

Prior to joining CSIRO in 2021, Branwen was the general manager of AusGEM - a joint venture between UTS and the NSW Department of Primary Industries. This led to an increased interest in antimicrobial resistance and her becoming a co-founder and managing director of the UTS-led OUTBREAK project, focusing on One Health antimicrobial resistance (AMR) surveillance that received MRFF funding.
