Biography
Laura is a research technician in the Research Development Indigenous Graduate program, who is proudly of English and Birri Gubba (Townsville, QLD) descent and is currently working in the Integrated Freshwater Landscapes team. Laura has extensive practical experience in fish and crustacean health and nutrition trials, marine and freshwater animal husbandry, maintenance of recirculating aquaculture systems, and field surveying of fish and crustacean populations (electrofishing and eDNA collection).
Her most recent experience before rejoining CSIRO was as a key member of the BPEOM (Basin Plan Environmental Outcomes Monitoring) project in NSW DPI Fisheries Research, in which she contributed to the development and implementation of broad scale fish population monitoring protocols and frameworks for working in culturally safe ways that were extended across Freshwater Ecosystems Research.
