Biography
Kimberley Opie joined CSIRO in 2006 as a remote sensing scientist and GIS specialist working the area of forestry. As a proficient spatial analyst Kimberley's skill have been applied to many landscape process modelling including agroforestry, application of tree growth modelling, interaction of vegetation with water accounting, land borne plastic debris transport and carbon accounting.
For more than a decade, Kimberley's skills have been applied in the area of bushfire adaptation and analytics. Her skills include developing complex spatial algorithms and workflows, a range of programming languages and development environments, a deep understanding of bushfire behavior models, remote sensing data and limitations and cloud computing. These skills have been applied across many aspect of bushfires including pre and post bushfire analysis, bushfire house and life loss (including sheltering), bushfire hazard planning mapping, asset bushfire risk analysis and contributions to bushfire best practice guides.
