Biography

Dr Mateus Oliveira Silva is the Delivery and Performance Manager for the Innovation Programs Portfolio and is based in Sydney, NSW.

Mateus leads the delivery, performance and continuous improvement of CSIRO's Innovation Programs Portfolio, driving portfolio-wide planning, monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL), performance reporting and governance. Working across government, research and industry, he provides strategic leadership to strengthen program delivery, build organisational capability and demonstrate the impact of CSIRO's national innovation initiatives.

Since joining CSIRO in 2021, Mateus has contributed to the design, delivery and continuous improvement of several flagship innovation programs that connect Australian SMEs with CSIRO's research capability. Mateus has led the SME Strategy, driving KPI development and data-driven insights to demonstrate the impact of CSIRO's engagement with Australian SMEs. He was also a Kick-Start Program Facilitator, supporting SMEs from the technology sector to undertake collaborative R&D projects with CSIRO.

Mateus has led the delivery of the RISE Accelerator R3, working with government, industry and delivery partners across Australia and India to support startup growth and commercialisation. He also led the launch of the Regional University Industry Collaboration (RUIC) Program, establishing its governance, performance framework and reporting approach to support successful program delivery and stakeholder engagement.

Before joining CSIRO, Mateus worked on multidisciplinary research projects at internationally recognised organisations, including the University of Melbourne, Harvard University and NASA. He is an alumnus of the Industry Mentoring Network in STEM (IMNIS) and was selected as an ATSE IMNIS Catalyst Ambassador in recognition of his commitment to strengthening connections between research and industry.
