Biography

A proud Badimia-Yamatji woman from Western Australia. Traditional Badimia Country holds the heart and history of our mob and is bordered by the Western Desert language groups of the Tjuparn and the Wanmala to the east, the Noongar to the south-west and Watjarri to the north-west. A Country with the kilometres of breakaway, Salt Lakes and Mulga woodlands where the creation serpent 'Bimarra' created our water sanctuaries and provided for food, clothing, shelter and living a harmonious and sustainable lifestyle.

I was the first female scientist in the family. It was a journey with the unforgettable challenges and barriers as a First Nation woman. An experienced Environmental Scientist and a certified Environmental Auditor and Aboriginal Empowerment expert committed to providing high level community engagement, strategic direction and First Nation outcomes consistent with contemporary science in water, land, heritage and air. Worked in various scientific and community engagement roles such as World Health Organisations (United Nation), mining and academic.
Lead and deliver environmentally responsible solutions consistent with First Nations future aspirations and empowerment with relevant policies, programs by implementing change within a complex and dynamic operating environment.
Shape strategies to inspire and facilitate cooperation, build relationship, and bring people together to achieve organisational goals in meeting priorities, deadlines, Reconciliation and Closing the Gap outcomes in water, environmental planning, Caring for Country and sustainability. Address climate change challenges with First Nations food security such as wild harvest, science on Country, traditional medicine and land restorations in mining rehabilitation and sustainable water/environmental resources and climate adaptation strategies to build resilient communities. Negotiate Native Title rights through Land Use Agreements in social, economic, cultural, and environmental wellbeing while empowering First Nation People to meet their future aspirations.
