Biography
I am Dr. Md. Shamsujjoha. I am currently employed as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow within Software and Computational Systems at CSIRO (2024-present). I also serve as an Industry Expert Academic and Teaching Associate at Monash University (2019-present). I completed my PhD in Software Systems and Cybersecurity at Monash University in August 2023. Prior to this, I served at East West University (EWU), Bangladesh, as a Senior Lecturer (2015-2019) and Lecturer (2012-2015) in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. In addition to my core academic responsibilities at EWU, I served as an Assistant Proctor (2014-2018), Member Secretary of the Accreditation Committee (2014-2015) and a moderator of the Computer Programming Club (2013-2015). I am a certified Agile Scrum Master and a member of IEEE, ACM, and the National CERC Committee.
My research and teaching experience across Australia and overseas has led to nearly 30 publications in leading journals and conferences in software systems, cybersecurity, privacy and security, and artificial intelligence (AI). I also have substantial experience in low-level programming, system design, and synthesis, including FPGA, microcontroller, and embedded systems based development. I have supervised over 30 higher degree by research (HDR), Master’s, Honours, and industry projects, many of which have led to publications, and have contributed to competitive research funding. I have collaborated on over 20 R&D projects with external partners, including industry and government organiZations. My current research focuses on software systems, AI safety, cybersecurity risk assessment, and verification-oriented approaches for trustworthy, secure, and reliable systems.
Other Interests
I have strong interests in local geo-culture and exploring new things, whether in academic, research, or daily contexts. I enjoy reading books and have skills in coordination, administrative services, and planning. Additionally, I actively involve in the community as a member of a local language school, net-zero carbon initiatives, and NGO work aimed at reducing poverty and unemployment through the better use of technology. I also have a strong passion for cattle farming and enjoy playing cricket.

I conduct research in software systems, cybersecurity, AI-driven system resilience, and data privacy, and develop secure and reliable IT solutions for government and industry partners. I produce high-impact publications for academic and industry audiences. I integrate cybersecurity, software engineering, AI, and privacy approaches to design and develop secure and trustworthy systems. For example, since 2024, I have contributed to and supported the Security Due Diligence, Reusable AI Safety Case Framework, AI Risk Assesment Metholodogies, and Multi-layered Guardrails projects. I also lead and contribute to multiple competitive research proposals, project plans, and technical reports to secure external funding and deliver project milestones. I supervise research students and external project teams. I collaborate on several R&D projects with government, global industry leaders, and academic partners. I translate project outcomes into reliable, scalable, and deployable technologies by working with stakeholders to co-design solutions with real world validation. In addtion, I coordinate research and development projects, including government and industry funded projects, manage project data and documentation, and ensure compliance with ethics and regulatory requirements. I organize workshops and seminars, manage funding applications and reporting processes. I supervise industry projects as well as higher degree research students and SME research teams. I also contribute to the broader functioning of the R&D activities through administrative support, coordination activities, and maintaining organizational standards, and in alignment with government and institutional policies.
