Shane is a Manager within CSIRO Futures, the strategic advisory arm of Australia’s national science agency. In this role he advises senior decision makers on strategies to address long-term opportunities and challenges presented by global economic, environmental, social, and technological trends.

Prior to this role, Shane was a Research Leader in the Biomedical Research Program, completing administrative and operational management for platforms that contribute to the discovery and development of novel pharmaceutical products. In this role Shane develop fee-for-service methods that substantially improve the research process. Preceding CSIRO, Shane held post-doctoral research positions at the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) and at the University of Amsterdam.

Shane holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Tasmania, a PhD from the University of Sydney and an MBA from the Melbourne Business School. Shane is a member of the Pride@CSIRO network, which aims to increase inclusion of the LGBTI+ community in CSIRO and the STEM sector more broadly.
