Biography

Dr Charlotte Williams is a Principal Research Scientist within the Biomedical Manufacturing Program at CSIRO and Group Leader for Chemical Biology, Diagnostics and Devices.

Charlotte regularly engages Australian Industries to deliver value to the Australian Biotechnology community and collaborates widely with Australian universities. Williams maintains strategic and commercial projects with collaborators at UQ, Monash and QUT, receiving joint ARC Linkage and NHMRC grants.

Charlotte completed her PhD from the University of Western Australia, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at The University of Oxford, from there she gained industry experience both in the UK (Johnson Matthey) and Australia (Starpharma Pty Ltd) before taking up a role at CSIRO in 2009.

Dr Williams has been a member of both the ACS and RSC and past treasurer for the RACI Bioactive Discovery and Development group. Dr Williams is an Associate Editor of The Australian Journal of Chemistry since 2018.

Charlotte is a synthetic chemist with an interest in synthetic biology; with expertise in synthetic chemistry and conjugation of small molecules, proteins and antibodies, polymer synthesis and polymer bioconjugation.
