Biography
Dr Enli Wang is a Chief Research Scientist and team leader at CSIRO in Canberra. He leads the Crop Modelling Team and also serves as project leader. Internationally, he leads the canola modelling team within the Agricultural Modelling Improvement and Intercomparison Program (AgMIP). He is also Chair of the APSIM Reference Panel, which is responsible for ensuring scientific quality and software engineering standards, and for overseeing, approving, and managing all APSIM development activities under the APSIM Initiative Innovation Agreement.
Dr Wang’s expertise spans plant ecophysiology, agrometeorology, and soil–plant systems modelling. His research has included physiologically based crop modelling (wheat, maize, canola, soybean), simulation of soil carbon and nutrient dynamics, and systems approaches to improve agroecosystem productivity and sustainability. His current work focuses on modelling crop physiological processes linked to genetics (wheat and barley) in APSIM, applying inverse modelling to estimate plant traits and soil functional properties, synergising genotype × environment × management (G×E×M) interactions, and developing strategies for sustainable agricultural intensification.
