Biography

Dr Saden H. Zahiri serves as Principal Research Scientist and Leader of CSIRO's Robotic Manufacturing Team, while also holding an Adjunct Professorship at Swinburne University of Technology. He oversees multidisciplinary collaborations that integrate advances in robotic additive manufacturing, materials science and metallurgy to deliver innovative solutions for industry, particularly in the energy and minerals sectors.
Since 2004, Dr Zahiri has been a pioneer in robotic cold spray additive manufacturing, making significant contributions to the field, including the development of a digital twin framework for solid-state supersonic deposition. His co-inventions also helped establish the world's first ASX-listed company built on robotic cold spray technology.
He has authored 130+ publications, industry reports, and patents, with internationally recognised contributions to understanding porosity and residual stress formation. He has a strong record of leading multidisciplinary projects that translate research into commercial outcomes while mentoring the next generation of highly skilled researchers and engineers.

Leading the Robotic Manufacturing team that consists of highly expert scientists including post doctoral fellows, PhD students and affiliates.
